On Route 30, 35 km South of Alessandria. Not much is to be expected from a place whose name translates as ‘Bathwater’ but this spa town is thriving without losing its pleasant old-fashioned air. One hot spring, La Bollente (‘The Boiler’), is in the town centre. The number of hotels and restaurants reflects an age-old popularity with both invalids and holidaymakers.
