Arma
Subtropical gardens
A tiny seaport with sunny villas and subtropical gardens. The horticultural dazzle of the Riviera of Flowers begins here and runs west, a profusion of bougainvillaea, geraniums, jasmine, magnolia, jacaranda, wistaria and other species. Arma encourages the arts. The artists are mostly lodged at Bussana Vecchia, 1 km inland, their studios, shops and galleries sprouting from the ruins of a place totally abandoned after the earthquake of 1887. The photo shows Arma on the coast and Bussana inland. Picturesque Taggia, 4 km inland, thrives on its antiques markets, every fourth Saturday and Sunday.
