Arqua Petrarca
Useful walking centre
Another small town to which the name of a famous Italian has been attached. Petrarch the poet (1304-74) spent his last years here and is buried under a green square beside the parish church. Arqua preserves the appearance of old times better than any other place in the Euganean hills, is not so congested on Sundays and is a useful centre for exploring this popular upland area on foot.
