Home / Italy / Exploring locally / Arno and Tiber / Badia Prataglia

Badia Prataglia

Excellent walking, cheap but charming places to stay

A calm little settlement at 843 m, spread along the thickly-wooded ridge above the Casentino. The 10thC abbey, often restored but still falling down, is Romanesque and has a crypt. Excellent walking among the hills on tracks where you meet only forestry jeeps. The photo shows The Three Falls, a feature of one the most popular walks. Cheap and agreeable places to stay.
