Bardolino

Wine and olive oil

A flourishing resort. Like Lazise, also in this section, it is partly enclosed in medieval walls. The famous Bardolino wine, grown on slopes behind the town, has suffered, like neighbouring Valpolicella, from over-production. The prestige commodity is D.O.C. olive oil. Its factory and museum, open daily, are 2 km south at Cisano. Ecclesiastical buffs should seek out the 9thC chapel dedicated to San Zeno the black saint (see also Verona).
