50 km north of Brisbane on Bruce Highway. Despite its name, the most cultured thing about this spot is the milk: this small town is famous for producing yoghurt. The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology (open Monday – Saturday 10 am to 4 pm; entry fee; www.abbeymuseum.com.au) comes a cultural second – with more than 4,000 exhibits of decreasing interest ranging from Ancient Egypt to Victorian Britain.
