Caloundra
The old man from Caloundra
Seaside resort at the south end of the Sunshine Coast, 50 km north of Brisbane. There was an old man from Caloundra – this may sound like the start of a limerick, but I can’t help it – who caught a fish, which had swallowed a fish, which according to him had swallowed yet another fish. After much heated discussion these fish were eventually laid out on the bar of a local hotel. Here it was judged that the third fish, despite being a mere minnow, was too large to have been swallowed by the other two fish. This story is probably the most interesting thing about Caloundra, which is otherwise a rather ordinary resort. Since ordinary Aussie resorts are a great deal better than ordinary resorts in most other places, you probably won’t be disappointed.
