Just down the road from Ribeauvillé, at Hunawihr, the centre is attempting to reintroduce storks to the region. This involves encouraging the great black-and-white birds not to migrate. They are free to roam, swooping gently over the vineyards and back to their enormous nests in the reserve. The centre also harbours cormorants, ducks, swans and playful otters.
