A ski resort of the upper Val di Lima, it draws you into the Middle Ages with hoary churches and tenements. Coats of arms of the old-time ‘Captains of the Mountain’ decorate the Palazzo Pubblico (Town Hall). In this parish, towards Abetone, is the ethnological museum of Rivoreta with ancient weapons and utensils of highland life. Every year the inhabitants declare a ‘day of the living museum’. Old people demonstrate obsolescent skills and tell the young how much better things used to be.
