Not to be missed
Must visit. A dreamy little citadel of thick walls and wynds on the summit of a conical hill (762 m), surveying miles of ocean and the ‘sickle’ of Trapani (see page 289). Clean, silent, well-kept but no trace of the mammoth Venus temple which made it renowned throughout the Ancient world. You could take a short cut through woodland on steep paths to Trapani, about 5 km; the ascent on foot from Trapani is exhausting.
