Gaviota State Park
Hiking trails
On Hwy-101, 30 miles West of Santa Barbara. As the southbound Hwy-101 swings east to follow the coast, it passes through Gaviota State Park, which encompasses a small beach enclosed by rocky outcrops and extends inland across 3,000 acres of chaparral-covered slopes. Hiking trails lead to Gaviota Hot Springs and to Gaviota Peak, the summit of which gives views clear along the coast to Santa Barbara and beyond: a rewarding target for a day’s hike. Also within the park are Las Cruces Hot Springs, two pools of warm, mineral-rich water, easily reached by following a short trail from a car-park near the junction of Hwy-101 and Hwy-1.
