This is easy bicycling country, and there is a very pleasant stretch between Royan and Blaye (D25/D145), which dawdles along the Gironde estuary and somewhat inland. There are regular ferry services across to the Médoc peninsula from both Royan and Blaye making a neat two-day circuit.
