200 km north west of Melbourne on the Hume Highway. This is the spot where Ned Kelly made his famous last stand, and the 400 local inhabitants have certainly cashed in on this. You can’t miss the giant statue of Ned, clad in his famous mask. They even have a theatre in the Tourist Centre (www.glenowantouristcentre.com.au) which puts on the Last Stand Show: computerised dummies play out the action. Slightly more authentic is the reconstruction of Ned Kelly’s home.
