Here the venerable Roiman road Via Flaminia (State Highway 3) which runs from Rome to Fano on the Adriatic, dives into a narrow twisting gorge (gola is ‘throat’). The main road goes through a 2-km tunnel but a short detour takes you down the gorge on the old road.
