Home / France / Exploring locally / Rouen and the Seine Valley / Harcourt, Chateau d’

Harcourt, Chateau d’

Feudal castle with fine garden and grounds

The grounds around this splendid double-moated and turreted feudal castle are tended by the Académie d’Agriculture de France, and the arboretum, initiated in the early 19thC, is now one of the most important sites of its kind in France. There are guided tours of the château (domesticated in the 17th-18thC), and the gardens support an extraordinarily diverse collection of trees which flourish in the varied soils and habitats found in the area.
