Jamestown
Old West steam locomotives
Anyone whose vision of the Old West includes a high-pitched whistle and clouds of steam as an ‘iron horse’ thunders along railroad tracks will find Jamestown’s Railtown 1897 State Historic Park much to their liking. The park preserves four steam locomotives, assorted rolling-stock, and many weighty tools which belonged to the Sierra Railroad Company, which began moving people and cargo around the Gold Country in 1897.
