Knotts Berry Farm
Amusement park
Off 1-5 in Buena Park, 20 miles South East of Los Angeles. Older, homier and less expensive than the nearby Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm (http://www.knotts.com), 8039 Beach Boulevard, is an amusement park which began life as a fruit farm and first drew crowds to the 65¢-chicken dinners offered by the farmer’s wife during the Depression. A replica California ghost town built on the farm to amuse the diners has evolved into a series of high-and low-tech thrills and-spills rides, and Camp Snoopy, where younger visitors are entertained by characters of the Peanuts cartoon strip.
