Home / Italy / Exploring locally / North-West of Rome: Etruscan homeland / Ladispoli

Ladispoli

Long sandy beach – and caravans

It has one of the longest sandy beaches on the Roman shore with ample room to park a caravan, as thousands do. Highway One, the old Via Aurelia, is a busy road at the best of times and the Rome-Ladispoli section is exceptionally congested and unavoidable unless you take to the motorway. Bumper-to-bumper on summer Sundays. On the shore, another formidable Odescalchi fortress. Town is noted for its artichoke festa in April and its proximity to Cerveteri.
