The tidy little town is chief centre of the Ogliastra region. Inhabitants’ casual car parking habits turn the steep main street into an obstacle course. Some fine parks here and the newish hotels and gift shops tell you that Arbatax and the seaside are not far off. If you have arrived via the Gennargentu highlands they will be a welcome sight. If you are heading west, say goodbye to civilization.
