South and east of Vaison, the jagged tips of the Dentelles and majestic Mont Ventoux (1,909 m) make for a lovely drive, and great hiking country. From Malaucène (10 km SE of Vaison-la-Romaine via the D938), there is a circular route around Mont Ventoux on the D974; while the D90 wriggles up through the Dentelles and down to the terraced village of Beaumes-de-Venise, famed for its sweet white muscat wine.
