150 km east of Barossa Valley. A small town on a bend of the great Murray River which flows all the way from the Snowy Mountains to the sea south of Adelaide. Here they have a historic village (www.thevillageloxton.com.au), and the Katarapko Game Reserve, where there’s great canoeing. For just under $10 you can take a two-hour boat ride on the river, and afterwards there’s always the Australian Vintage Winery to visit (Indian owned since 2008).
