Mallacoota
Holiday resort and marine park
At south west tip of the Australian mainland. A popular holiday resort on the picturesque Mallacoota Inlet, which is a lake system at the extremity of the coast. The town has less than 1,000 permanent inhabitants, and can be badly overrun at the height of the summer season. The Point Hicks Marine National Park is definitely worth a visit (www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/explore/parks/point-hicks-marine-national-park), it is a 4,000 acre marine park with a huge array of wildlife and two shipwrecks, SS Kerangie, and the SS Saros. Access by land is by the Point Hicks Road along the Cann River road.
