Market at l’Aigle

Normandy’s biggest market – a must

An absolute must if you are in this area on a Tuesday is Normandy’s biggest market at L’Aigle (31 km north-east of Mortagne-au-Perche via D930). Hundreds of stalls piled high with regional bounty from fruit and vegetables to cheeses and cider cram into the town centre. Meanwhile, the livestock market provides raucous accompaniment as local farmers haggle and socialize in roughly equal proportions in a sea of crated geese, clucks and chickens, not to mention larger livestock. However, this section is not for the tender-hearted.
