Pretty town lying in the shadow of Monte Guglielmo (1,948 m). Ruins of a 1stC Roman villa are at Co de Hela on the edge of town. A road climbs steeply inland − hairpin bends, memorable views − to Zone and the Pyramids. A few kilometres north of Marone is the ancient fishing settlement of Vello, with its archaic church of Cimitero.
