You have to climb a flight of steps to the 13thC cathedral, a harmonious pile. Faded frescos inside are all the more impressive for never having been retouched. One group is probably by the Sienese master Duccio (1418- 1481). The main piazza slopes away and its exits trickle down among medieval tower houses.
