There are several lovely woodland walks in the vicinity of Saint-Nectaire, and beautiful Lac Chambon, just beyond Murol (6 km west via the D996), offers watersports and canoe hire. During summer, the Compagnons de Gabriel recreate life under the feudal lords of medieval France in the ruins of the 13thC Château de Murol, an imposing fortress-stronghold on top of a basalt outcrop.
