Musee de Petit-Palais
Wide ranging municipal fine art collections
avenue Winston-Churchill, 8e. A florid Neoclassical edifice built for the 1900 World Exhibition, the Petit-Palais (www.petitpalais.paris.fr) houses the broad-ranging municipal fine arts collections. Antiquities, medieval and Renaissance art, classical bronzes and a particularly fine collection of 19th-20thC French painting decorate the lofty halls, enlivened by painted ceilings and plants. It is worth investigating the temporary exhibition schedule, too.
