Refuge for vagrant children

An undistinguished town where Danilo Dolci, priest and social reformer, established in 1955 his first rehabilitation centre for vagrant children.

Rock musician Frank Zappa’s family came from here, and at the other end of the culture spectrum, the photo shows one of the realistic nativity scenes for which the town is known, staged each Christmas.
