90 km south of Port Augusta. This is the port and smelting centre for the Broken Hill mining district. It looks just as you would expect a busy lead and zinc smelting centre to look, complete with active chimneys; and it has looked much like this for well over 100 years. Bravely, they maintain a visitor information center Mary Elie Street. Here you can sign up for a tour of the world’s largest smelting plant, Pasminco Smieter.
