In the wine country of Val di Mazara. Badly knocked about in the 1968 earthquake, the town centre was abandoned. Ecclesiastical buildings are repaired and a new monastery has been built; work on the humble dwellings of victims proceeds more slowly. It is dangerous to enter houses marked ‘O’.
