Scotland, Applecross Round
45 miles/72 km • 1-day tour • strenuous
This stunning circuit is bordered on three sides by sea, and is one of Scotland’s remotest areas. Follow the link below for directions and points of interest.

Shieldaig – Fearnmore – Applecross – Shieldaig
Start Shieldaig. The nearest train station is Strathcarron, 19 miles away. Buses run between Strathcarron and Shieldaig, but they are infrequent so check before you travel.
Essentials The A896 SE from Shieldaig is narrow, with a gradual climb. From the junction N of Ardarroch towards Applecross is a 4-mile climb up to the Pass of Cattle with very steep gradients and several hairpin bends. Many climbs and descents between Fearnbeg and Shieldaig. Do not attempt in bad weather.
