Sea World
Much visited
A multi-million dollar operation and one of San Diego’s most visited (and most highly priced) tourist attractions. Sea World is a series of major exhibits which offer the chance to see killer whales, sharks and penguins at close quarters plus numerous minor displays on ocean themes and special events throughout the day. If you’re not upset by intelligent mammals being taught tricks for human amusement or by crowds and commercialism – there’s a gift shop and over-priced snack stand at every turn – and have always wanted to stroke a stingray or feed a bottle-nosed dolphin, then Sea World could well be for you.
We cannot recommend this sight in the light of recent events that have shed light on the cruelty to animals, which is always completely unjustified, however we feel that we cannot be a comprehensive source of information for you if we do not. If you have any doubts about Sea World, or would like to know more watch the 2013 documentary Black Fish.
