Susa

Roman ruins and an 11thC cathedral

A great old north-western frontier post between the Romans’ Cisalpine and Transalpine Gaul, it is now an attractive bustling town where many tourists stop for a meal and a first or last breath of Italy. Remains of towers and walls survive, also an arch of the Emperor Augustus and an 11thC cathedral.
