Tanlay, Chateau de

Elegant small chateau

This lovely, small château, founded in 1559 by Francois d’Andelot, brother of the Huguenot Amiral de Coligny, was completed in elegant French Renaissance style by Michel de Particelli, Mazarin’s finance minister. Built around a courtyard, the highly decorative interior is furnished with 16thC antiques and paintings, while monochrome cartoons in the Grande Gallerie depict the main figures in the Wars of Religion, when the château was a Huguenot meeting place.
