Home / Italy / Exploring locally / Abruzzo: the Roof of Italy / Tivoli

Tivoli

Fountain displays

A town older than Rome, well equipped with antiques, crafts and gift shops. Thronged with touring buses, all converging on Villa d’Este for the renowned fountain displays. By contrast, the cascades of Villa Gregoriana down the road are not much visited. See Tivoli’s fountains also by night (summer-time only) if possible, when fireflies compete with the discreet floodlighting.
