Torbole
Goethe lodged here
As at Riva, this section, young people enjoying themselves on the water provide spectators on shore endless amsuement. There are decent fish restaurants along the gritty beach and several old-fashioned sandstone houses in the town centre – one of them identified as the lodging of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Torbole is chiefly residential and seems to have more success than most Italian places in coping with noise pollution. Streets at night are deserted and only a keen ear picks up disco noise.
