Valpolicella
Wine centre
On Route 12, north west of Verona. Undulating hills, clothed with vines, slope to the Adige river. Here the well-known tipple tastes better than that sent to the supermarket by tanker. A famous Paris street is named for the village and castle of Rivoli on its plateau above the river. Here in 1797 the French army under its new general Bonaparte met the Austrians for the third time and made it three victories out of three.
