Machynlleth – Aberangell – Corris Uchaf – Tal-y-llyn – Tywyn – Aberdyfi – Machynlleth
Essentials The route is comprised of two circuits. An unclassified road runs SE of Tywyn (through Happy Valley) towards Pennal and avoids the A493, but there’s a steep climb towards the end of the valley. Planning Machynlleth, Tywyn and Aberdyfi have cafés, pubs and shops – scarce elsewhere.
Finding the way W from Aberangell: (towards top of climb through village turn left on to Forest Drive) the surfaced road ends after one mile. It continues as an unsurfaced but hard track, mostly rideable, with a 0.5 mile/0.8 km climb followed by a 2 mile/3.2 km descent.
Points of interest
ABERDYFI A beautifully situated seaside town known for summer yachting regattas. It’s the ideal spot for a rest after a hard day’s cycling.
TAL-Y-LLYN RAILWAY A narrow gauge steam railway, which passes the beautiful Dolgoch Falls.
