Wine routes
Through foothills and vineyards
The Strada del Prosecco e Vini dei Colli Conegliano pursues a wavering course from the River Piave near Valdobbiadene to Conegliano through 40 km of foothills and vineyards. The trail is in-and-out, but signposted; and certain restaurants along them display the wine routes’ quality sign. Prosecco is made from a grape peculiar to the region (photo). It comes in still (dry) and sparkling (sweet) forms. The reds made in the Conegliano hills include merlots, pinots, cabernet sauvignons and, notably, raboso, a full-bodied wine from the lower Piave area. A superior sparkling white, the equivalent of méthode champenoise called Opere Trevigiane, is produced at 17thC Villa Sandi near Crocetta del Montello, across the Piave south of Valdobbiadene.
